 GRAHAM HAYNES : B.P.M.
 Knitting Factory

GRAHAM HAYNES : B.P.M. I was first exposed to the single "inn a most" about a month back. I've now heard the full length :BPM and would have to say "inn a most" is probably the most accessible of the lot. A globally inspired sound incorporating tabla-like scat voicings with sitar and Haynes' brass makes this track feel the most organic. The rest of the album sits somewhere between drum 'n bass and ambient, if one feels the need to categorize. However the album definitely pushes the envelope. Twisted rhythms and chords along with headtrippin' bass & synth aren't what make it so as much as Haynes' ability to incorporate his jazz roots into a more current genre.
